  1. APPROVED SUPPORTING COURSES (12 semester hours):

BUSI 4660 (or MKTG 4280 or FINA 4500, if approved in advance by the departmental undergraduate coordinator). The remaining hours are selected from 3000- or 4000-level business courses. BCIS 4800 cannot be used as a supporting course. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved in writing in advance by the departmental undergraduate coordinator.

Please Note: A 2.7 GPA is required for graduation. A 2.7 overall GPA and a C or better in all previous DSCI courses is required to enroll in an upper level DSCI course. The College of Business Administration also requires either a degree plan or an advising clearance form to be on file in the Dean's office (Room 123 of COBA Building) to enroll in upper level COBA courses.

Degree Requirements

Requirements for the Bachelor of Business Administration in Decision Sciences include:

  1. A minimum of 127 semester hours of pre-business, business foundation, and professional course work

  2. Students are encouraged to utilize free electives at UNT for the purpose of meeting professional goals.

Students interested in the theoretical and mathematical science of computing should see the Department of Computer Sciences.

Academic Standards
  1. It is recommended that students selecting Decision Sciences as a professional field for the BBA degree meet at least one of the following standards:
         a. Be in the top 25 percent of their high school graduating class.
         b. Attain a minimum score of 920 on SAT or 20 an ACT.

  2. It is required that students selecting Decision Sciences as a professional field have at least a 2.7 GPA in all courses completed at UNT and have a transfer GPA of at least 2.7.

  3. A grade of C or better is required in each previously taken BCIS, DSCI or CSCI course for enrollment in any senior-level BCIS or DSCI course.

  4. Academic requirements for graduation with a professional field in DSCI include:
         a. Minimum GPA of 2.7 in all course work at UNT.
         b. Minimum GPA of 2.7 in advanced hours (3000- and 4000- level courses) attempted in the professional field and supporting courses.

  5. A grade of C or better is required in each BCIS, and DSCI course taken in the professional field, supporting Decision Sciences courses or career track.

  6. The Department will enforce the following standards: A student must have a UNT GPA of 2.7 and a C or better in all previous BCIS/DSCI courses to enroll in any BCIS/DSCI course whose number sequence is greater than 3610. A student must have a C or better in all BCIS/DSCI 3000 and 4000 level courses. See the Department undergraduate advisor if you do not meet both of these requirements.

  7. Formal degree plans are completed and maintained by the COBA Advising Office in BA123. Degree plan changes and/or substitutions are the responsibility of each student with approval by the BCIS department; BCIS Advising will assist you in completing the change forms for filing with COBA Advising.
